Major Honors and Activities

As Deputy Magistrate of the Hualien County Government from 2003-2008 and as Minister for Research and Development in the Executive Yuan/Cabinet in Taiwan from 2009-2012, Dr. Chu coordinated and promoted academic exchange programs for Dong Hwa University and the Universities in EU region. He also invited European scholars to teach EU topics and policies every year. Since 2009, he set up the European Union Research Centre at the Dong Hwa University and joined the EUTW as one of the seven partner universities. Every year he organized many EU activities, for instance EU Forum, EU Summer School, EU Film Festival, EU Grant Workshop etc. Dr. Chu has been awarded Jean Monnet Chair since 2015. To promote EU education in Taiwan, Dr. Chu devoted himself in educating students in the EU related courses and held various EU activities, such as the exhibition of 60 years of Rome Treaty etc.
