History and Our missions
History

     EU Research Centre at National Dong Hwa University was founded in August, 2009. The Centre is governed by a director, who is assisted by one executive director, one consultative committee, and several assistants. A consultative committee is gathered to give advice for centre operation. The director now is Professor Dr. Ching-peng Chu and the executive director is Prof. Dr. Fanfan Chen.

     Being one of the seven members of European Union Centre in Taiwan (EUTW) and the only member from Eastern Taiwan, European Union Research Centre at National Dong Hwa University plays the role of a domestic EU information platform as well as that of an international communication agent between European Union and Eastern Taiwan. The specialties and development orientations for this centre is to encourage EU and European research, to enhance and cultivate the local consciousness and cares of global issues, to integrate local cultures and resources in Eastern Taiwan, and to promote EU knowledge, research, networks, and development that harmonize global and local perspectives.

Our missions

1. To assist the implementation of EU-related outreach activities organized by the European Union Centre in Taiwan.

2. To promote EU related-research knowledge for the faculties and students at National Dong Hwa University and for the citizens in Eastern Taiwan.

3. To establish the academic exchange platform between NDHU and EU as supports to the further academic research and educational studies for the faculties and students at National Dong Hwa University.

4. To enhance the EU Studies in all academic fields and contribute to the expansion and strengthening of people-to-people and academic links and exchanges between the EU and Taiwan.

5. To participate actively in the existing network of EU Centres.

Activities Plan

     In the future, our centre will cooperate with EUTW’s yearly schedule, whose aims are to install “EU Study Programmes,” to set up “EU Study Areas” in the library, to design and implement academic and research outreach activities, and to promote the interaction among the EU researchers and the citizens in Taiwan and abroad.
